Dear Friends and Colleagues,
One of the highlights of this years summer programming was the 5th
annual FMAC charity golf classic This years tournament raised over
$20,000 for The Hospital for Sick Children. This is no small feat and
we can all take pride in this achievement. Through the generous support
of many sponsors, the golfing efforts of FMACs membership and, of
course, through the dedication of a handful of people, the golf tournament
continues to be a success. I would like to thank Karl Berger and his crew
for a job well done. In this issue of the Market Maker you will
find pictures of some of the prize winners and details about next years
tournament.
This issue of
the Market Maker is the first issue assembled by the new Communications
Director, Carmen Perricone from State Street. I think you will agree that
Carmen has done a great job. We are always looking for contributions to
the newsletter, so if you have an idea or feel inspired about a certain
topic, give Carmen a call and get involved.
During these
lazy days of summer, the FMAC board has been busy planning some exciting
events for the fall and winter. The recent member survey provided lots
of great event ideas and topics. In particular, you wanted to hear more
about E-Commerce, banking mergers, and professional standards. We are
busy lining up some interesting speakers and topics. In addition, we are
planning a Casino Night on November 29th. It will be a joint event with
TMAC, so there will be lots of great networking opportunities and some
fantastic prizes to be won with your gambling proceeds. You can find out
more details in the events section of this newsletter and we will post
information on the Web site as we have it.
In the Fall,
FMAC will participate in the Treasury Managers Association of Canada Conference.
At our booth we will market ACI Education courses to TMAC members and
inform them about some of our initiatives like The Model Code. By sharing
these valuable aspects of ACI-The Financial Markets Association, we will
raise the level of knowledge and professional standards of all participants
in our market.
Around the same
time as the TMAC conference, we will be joined by two representatives
from ACI-FMA. They will be here to market ACI-FMA to our institutions,
participate in the TMAC T.O. Confidential conference, and to provide members
with information on ACI courses and global developments. I hope you will
join us at the information session, planned for Tuesday September 25th.
Details are listed in the newsletter and you will get an e-mail notice
closer to the event. Its a great opportunity to learn and well
make sure there is some fun networking too.
I hope to see
you at a FMAC event in the near future. As always, please encourage colleagues
across the financial market products to attend with you. I am sure they
will find the events interesting and FMAC relevant to them.
Sharon Grewal, President
