This issue of Market Makerarrives a little late this quarter because we wanted to give you an update on two significant events. The first was the International ACI in Geneva held 4-6 June. While vacationing in Europe we were able to attend the congress and bring readers a first-hand account of this fascinating international meeting on the future of global trading. The next event, a little closer to home was the second annual FMAC Charity Golf Classic on 20 June. This successful tournament raised about $45,000 for The Hospital for Sick Children — a proud testament to the generosity of the Canadian market. Tournament organizers Karl Berger (CIBC, Wood Gundy), Daniel Gandy (Freedom/Marshall), Michael Smith (Marshall, NY) and Joe Barbaro (Reuters) worked very hard and we commend them for a job well done.
As we enjoy the lazy days of summer, please note a few upcoming FMAC social events. Don’t forget about the Summer Forex at the Docks on 30 July. Ticket sales for this annual favorite have been brisk. C.J. Gavsie promises a terrific evening at the Docks, Toronto’s landmark waterfront patio.
Another event to keep in mind is a bit of a first for FMAC — a formal, gala dinner. The National Club has been booked for 11 September and organizers are currently fleshing out the details regarding price and theme for the evening. If you wish to help with the planning of this event, please contact C.J. Gavsie at (416) 867-5807.
